Explore the rugged West Coast — spring wildflowers, Langebaan lagoon, Paternoster fishing village, and the most spectacular seafood in South Africa. A local's insider guide.
An hour north of Cape Town, the landscape transforms. The manicured vineyards and mountain backdrops give way to vast, empty beaches, whitewashed fishing villages, and — in spring — an explosion of wildflowers that turns the semi-arid landscape into one of the greatest floral spectacles on Earth.
The Wildflower Season (August–September)
The Postberg section of West Coast National Park opens only during flower season. Millions of daisies, vygies, and other succulents carpet the hillsides in orange, purple, yellow, and white. It's free with park entrance (R84).
