Face the ocean's apex predator from just metres away. Complete guide to shark cage diving in Gansbaai, Mossel Bay, and False Bay — operators, prices, and expert tips.
There's nothing quite like the moment a great white shark materialises from the deep blue, its powerful body gliding past the cage just arm's length away. Shark cage diving in South Africa is one of the world's most exhilarating wildlife encounters — and the Western Cape is the global epicentre.

Closer to Cape Town (45 minutes). Blue sharks and mako sharks are the stars here, with occasional great white sightings.
Mossel Bay
On the Garden Route. Less touristic, with excellent visibility and reliable shark activity.
